Digital Recording

As has been mentioned elsewhere, the actual "seed" from which Windswept Productions originally sprang was a desire to develop a digital recording studio with video-editing capability. As such enterprises rarely generate much in the way of revenue, especially in rural areas, and tend to cost a great deal of money to set up, WP's business has always been primarily that of computer-aided design, web design, photography, and other image-based activities. The studio began as a basic project studio and has evolved over the years into a state-of-the-art mixing and mastering facility, lacking only a few architectural features -- specifically a drum room and vocal isolation booth -- to qualify as a full-service facility. It is video-capable, with Final Cut Pro HD installed, but WP is not currently taking video editing work.

The new facilities, pictured above on completion of construction in July 2004, grew from an old Macintosh Quadra 950, its Audiomedia II card, and MOTU's Digital Performer 1.7 and continued to evolve through a hybrid G3 and a succession of hardware and software additions and upgrades. Right now it's an 8-processor PowerMac, Digital Performer 10, and. an Auralex-treated studio space and control room, with room to grow, that will take WP from "A Little More Than A Project Studio" to "A Great Place To Record Anything". Equipment complement is listed below, and the links on the page connect to a variety of studio projects from the last 15 years or so.
